Shankar has always believed in giving back to the society. For the past 5 years along with his mentor Anand Sharan and a few good friends they have been mentoring budding photographers through an initiative that he founded – Thank God It’s Saturday( TGIS). He realised that while people went for various workshops to learn the basics of photography, they needed a platform to practice. This also led him to create a platform for them to exhibit their pictures and ever since they have been conducting a series of exhibitions – Clicked2Help – Spirit of India annually in galleries in Bangalore. The proceeds of these exhibitions have been going to charitable causes like the Rotary and the Multiple Sclerosis Society of India. In the latest edition of the exhibition they have raised money to a tune of $10,000 (approx. Rs. 7 Lakhs) which was donated to Multiple Sclerosis Society of India.
