Holi, Nandgaon

About This Project

Holi  is a Hindu spring festival in India and Nepal, also known as the festival of colours or the festival of sharing love. It is an ancient Hindu religious festival which has become popular with non-Hindus in many parts of South Asia, as well as people of other communities outside Asia. It is primarily observed in India, Nepal, and other regions of the world with significant populations of Hindus or people of Indian origin. In recent years the festival has spread to parts of Europe and North America as a spring celebration of love, frolic, and colours.

Nandgaon is a town in Mathura District of Uttar Pradesh. The twin cities of Nandgaon and Barsana play host to some of the most traditional forms of Holi . The atmosphere is filled with the chants of ” Radhe Radhe ” and there is a riot of colours. The hill on which the main temple is located is called the Nandisvara Hill where the villagers of the twin cities gather to sing bhajans of Radha and Krishna called the Samaaj.
